“A pathological risk minimization is a lifestyle disease. It causes the lack of immunity in the society, making it rigid and static. The certainty is one of our basic human needs, but reduction of risks below the healthy level has devastating effects. In all scales and in all fields – in nature and human society, in education, economy, but also in art and architecture, the risk reduction is poisonous. The purpose of the project was not to root out the consequences of the compulsive risk reduction, nor to artificially raise the risk probability. The aim was to start a long process of the risk acceptance.” (from the Manumit project).
Eventually the idea was rooted and formed into the Manumittere movement. The rituals of this group were aimed at maximizing risk and freeing up by the exposure. The members of the movement heard the voice of Manumit and followed his teachings. The final ritual was the voluntary acceptance of a 100% risk of death and subsequent liberation on the way through the landscape of the universe.
The video captures the ritual. We follow the last minutes of the mantras spoken by the Manumit follower. The capsule with the man inside does not have any oxygen or water supply, we therefore witness the last moments before the ritual is “completed” and the man is manumited by the eternal sleep.
The Mantra:
My hands are tied up
I will be woken up and will be free from sleep,
The sleep will liberate me,
manumittere
At the time of darkness you did not let us quench
At the time of darkness, when we were tied by fear,
You will be woken up and will be free from sleep though,
The sleep will liberate you,
manumittere
“One day you will break free from the shell”
Your voice raved us and we followed.
You will be woken up in your sleep and will be free,
The sleep will liberate you,
manumittere
Set the way for my deeds, lead us,
Out from hiding, we’ll loose our chains.
I will be woken up and will be free from sleep,
At that moment the sleep will liberate you,
manumittere
The intangible space dampens my voice
The intangible space senses the power in me.
And I wake up free from the sleep,
By the sleep I was liberated with,
manumittere
Manumittere, liberate me
Manumite, my hands are now free
I will be woken up and will be free from sleep,
The sleep will liberate me,
The intangible space dampens my voice
The intangible space senses the power in me.
And I wake up free from the sleep,
By the sleep I was liberated with,
manumittere
Manumittere, liberate me
Manumite, my hands are now free
I will be woken up and will be free from sleep,
The sleep will liberate me,

The work deals with the process of transforming ideas into a form, which is communicable to another recipient. ‘Tacit’ examines the process of the typing, erasing, structuring, regrouping of text.
The boundary of our private inner intellectual space gives us the freedom to directly express with writing. The process of writing is also determined by the knowledge of a recipient and the need to eventually move the text into a public media space. A boundary of the private and public space in the virtual world is different from its physical analogies. These boundaries can move, vibrate, disturb. The notion of this instability has a strong influence on our behavior and expression.
Typing on the computer to a certain extent freed the process of reshaping the text. The physical space of the paper allowed only a limited possibilities for editing, before becoming unreadable. Computer unleashes the writing process, while also introducing other restrictive effects.
Typing on the keyboard is probably the closest process to the immediate shaping of the ideas. It allows for endless editing, removing, deleting and formatting. That is why it is the easiest way to monitor both natural and learned rituals and habits.
Moreover, the deleted text often hides the most essential and often more honest communication during a regular chat conversation. It is a process of self-censorship, whether determinate or imminent, of deleting an excess, the process of finding the essence.
The panorama of the forrest moves simultaneously with the recording of the typing. When text is added, the picture moves to the less visually defined „jungle“. When deleting, the picture moves to a more rhythmically pronounced structure of the tree trunks. Different occasions of typing have a different time structure and vary in the levels of editting. The forest visualizes these differences by transforming its structure. The display below the moving image shows the deleted parts of the text, revealing the matter, which is usually lost in the process.

Monastery has always been a closed place (clastrum). It is and has always been the center of cultural and spiritual life, strictly protected from the surrounding world, yet often located in or close to the settlement. The Zbraslav quarry has a very similar character – also separated, but still close to Zbraslav and Prague. The proposal derives from this natural character of the site.

The proposal for the Victims of Communism Memorial is situated on a Letna hill in Prague. The task was to create a functioning connection between the center of the city – Old Town Square and Letna.
The concept derives from the effort to express the theme through symbols – the means of shaping the space, which would be clearly understood without the need of sculptural concretization of events or personalities. The form is based on the opposites: dark / light; valley / mountain; cramped / free; outside / inside; intimate / shared; permanent / transient.
Deriving from the opposites, an underground oblique cone that extends toward Letna, is created. Simplicity of form is an effort to find the most concise materialization of the symbols.
Each step of the path symbolizes 1,000 human destinies.

The proposal is based on a symbolic journey through the memories.
The memorial consists of two rows of flexible stems, which are placed along the path and symbolize human destinies. The stems ripple in the wind, creating the impression of waves along the way. The height of each stem is based on the life length of the victim. Stems form a symbolic gateway – the memories are vivid and lasting. The number of the “gates” is based on the number of executed victims of the communist regime. One millimeter of the stem is one day of the victim’s life. The point at which the stem is cut off is the moment of the execution. The stems are planted chronologically by the day of the execution.

‘Peripeteia’ is a procedural tool for defining theoretical map of concepts, which are used in a creative process of the collective of artists, who share one studio space. This map has its intellectual center as well as its peripherals. As a result, the position of the concepts of individual students and their intellectual connections within the whole act as curatorial tool for the physical positioning of the artworks in the exhibition studio space.
Each student comes with a list of 10 concepts, which he or she uses in a creative process. Each concept is graded on a scale from one to ten according to importance for the artists work. By linking the conceptual structure of the entire studio, the continuous system with clearly specified hierarchy of concepts emerges.
“A thought and an action. The natural bond, the substance of which, however, is highly individual. Everybody’s thinking transforms into acts differently Everybody works with clues and symbols to make a work understandable by the recipient.
This map is not a product – it is a process, applicable in real time. It is capable of transformation and changing its core and peripheral interests.
The map defines the naturally arising manifesto, it is a sum of diverse perspectives in a consistent whole. ”
